Lorraine Houston's touching cover feature told the story of the sickly puppies, who began life in an Amish puppy mill before being moved to Toronto Animal Services South Region Shelter. Today, Dogs Dogs Dogs learned that all three puppies have left the shelter and found loving owners. For more information on how to avoid scams perpetrated by puppy mills and puppy brokers, see the cover story in the current issue of DDD. KIDS GET DOG-EARED ASSISTANCE WITH BOOKS 03/26/2012
(Owen Sound) Children who are having a rough time learning how to read can be helped...by having a ruff time reading. A new program in places pooches with pre-pubescents in an effort to increase their confidence in reading aloud. Read the full story here. Midi, a tiny Morkie featured in the forthcoming April/May issue of Dogs Dogs Dogs, is at the centre of a bitter Twitter diatribe unleashed by the kerfuffle-causing dog's owner, multi-Juno-Award-winning singer-songwriter Jann Arden against VIA Rail. Both Arden and Midi -- a plucky, champagne-coloured 3-year-old, described by her owner as a picky eater and eager sleeper -- were, according to one of Arden's tweets, "booted off" in Oshawa while en route to Ottawa. “You guys suck,” she tweeted at VIA following the incident. “A four-pound dog in a bag and you boot me off in the middle of nowhere? Nice…” According to a spokesman for VIA, the little scamp should have been flagged at the station by VIA staff, and prevented from riding in the passenger car with Arden. At the height of her rant, Arden wrote, "Eat my bra via rail." A spokesman for Morkies was unavailable for comment. Demonstrating Dogs Dogs Dogs' enduring pet-fellowship with the GTA's feline community, we would like to post some news that was brought to us by Paul from Pet Valu with respect to an upcoming bake sale for the Homeless Cat Rescue: The bake sale is coming up on the 24th and 25th of March here at Pet Valu (1386 Bayview Ave, at the corner of Bayview and Merton), from 12:00-4:00pm both days.
